What is ERP?

ERP is an acronym for Enterprise Resource Planning. Enterprise Resource Planning software is a tool that businesses use to manage their day-to-day operations. ERP systems are comprised of many integrated modules that can include inventory management, accounting, manufacturing, business intelligence, returns management and much more.

ERP is usually used by companies who make, sell or distribute products to help keep track of all the moving parts of manufacturing and distribution. But ERP systems are also used by a number of different service industries like healthcare, nonprofit groups, construction and hospitality. While ERP systems behave differently depending on the industry they are designed for, they all serve the purpose of helping businesses run more efficiently.

Traditionally, ERP systems have been cumbersome and difficult to use. But, as technology has progressed, many ERP systems have become more user-friendly. These systems have evolved to be cloud-based, use live data, and have more accessible interfaces.
