What is boxing?

Boxing is the process of packing products so they can be transported. This may seem simple, but ensuring your products are packed correctly can be incredibly complex. When boxing you must take into consideration factors such as weight restrictions, item-per-box limits, how fragile the items are, and how the person receiving the box will unpack it. Shipping services will also need to know box weight and dimensions before they pick them up.

Poorly packed products can cause a variety of issues; you could incur extra costs from shipping overweight boxes or shipping extra boxes because products were not evenly distributed. It’s also possible that your boxes will be unable to ship, or products will be damaged along the way if you do not box properly.

Boxing is an integral part of the inventory management and order fulfillment process. It is beneficial to have a system that allows you to customize your boxing process. For example, copying boxes to reduce repetitive steps or to configure pre-set box templates for faster data entry. Having control over the boxing process maintains product integrity and saves you time and money.
