What is a master style?

A master style, also known as a body style, is the basic design of a garment. This design will be used as the base for all style variants. Variants include changes in colors and patterns. A master style will also have a scale associated with it so you can create different sizes. 

If your clothing brand has a best-selling pastel pink summer blouse, you'll likely want to transition that piece to a new season. You can use this blouse as the master style and make the appropriate color changes for the fall. This way, manufacturers can use the exact blouse design instructions and simply change the fabric color. Some software will allow you to group items by master style so you can easily see previous iterations.
